Every technology platform makes a promise. At Manifold, ours is straightforward: bring every freight opportunity into one place, eliminate the portal chaos, and make sure carriers and brokers never miss a spot opportunity because it came through the wrong channel. But a promise is only as good as the infrastructure behind it; and that infrastructure lives in the integrations, the connections between Manifold and the bid shipper and broker bid boards, and TMS platforms that our customers depend on every day.
Delivering on those connections at speed and with precision requires a rare combination: deep technical expertise, a genuine understanding of how freight systems work in the real world, and the discipline to get things done on time.
Manifold is proud to welcome Evan Whipple to the team as our new Technical Program Manager, his vast experience at Convoy and Amazon check those boxes with spades.
Evan’s path to Manifold was shaped by seven years working at the forefront of freight technology. He spent a formative chapter at Convoy, the Seattle-based digital freight brokerage that became one of the most technically ambitious companies the logistics industry has ever seen. Convoy attracted some of the sharpest engineering minds in the country, and it was there that Evan built his foundation in the complex, high-stakes world of freight integrations. It was also there that he first crossed paths with Manifold’s Co-Founder and CEO, Oliver Jones, and Co-Founder and CTO Andrew Huff; a connection that would eventually bring him to Manifold.
After Convoy, Evan took his expertise to Amazon, where he continued sharpening his instincts for large-scale systems, technical program management, and the kind of rigorous execution that enterprise-level logistics demands. By the time he encountered Manifold, the product’s value was immediately clear to him.
“After seven years in the freight tech space, the value proposition of a cleanly aggregated spot board was obvious the moment I saw the product,” Evan says. “I am excited to join Manifold because we’re building next-gen tech for the freight industry.”
What struck Evan most about Manifold wasn’t just the technical architecture; it was the philosophy behind it. In an industry full of platforms that demand more attention, more logins, and more screen time, Manifold is built to do the opposite.
“Unlike a lot of other tech companies, one of the rare things about Manifold is that we are building technology that lets our customers actually spend less time in front of a screen and more time on the relationships that are the foundation of the trucking industry,” he explains. “In addition to making our customers more money, I like that we’re also making their lives less stressful by letting them focus on just one screen rather than trying to juggle a dozen open bid boards.”
That perspective runs deep. For Evan, the goal isn’t just operational efficiency; it’s something more human than that.
“The psychological benefit of helping people breathe a little easier at the end of the day and making their lives feel less hectic is powerful,” he says. “These are hard problems to solve, but I’m particularly happy to be working on them with such a densely talented group of kind people.”
In his role as Technical Program Manager, Evan’s mandate is clear: own every customer integration from start to finish, and deliver them on time and with precision. That means managing connections to customer bid boards, both shippers and broker bid boards, and TMS platforms; the technical touchpoints that determine whether a carrier or a broker sees every available load or misses the ones that matter most.
This focus also frees up our Customer Success team to do what they do best: deepening relationships, supporting growth, and making sure every Manifold customer is getting the full value of the platform. Evan takes the integration complexity off their plate entirely.
For customers, the impact is direct: faster onboarding, fewer delays between signing up and seeing results, and a dedicated expert whose entire job is making sure the technical foundation of their Manifold experience is rock solid.
For Oliver Jones, bringing Evan onto the Manifold team feels less like a hire and more like a reunion.
“Evan is a perfect fit for this role and for our team,” says Jones. “We had the chance to work alongside him at Convoy, and we saw firsthand what he’s capable of: technical excellence, a deep understanding of how freight systems connect, and an absolute commitment to getting things done right. Our customers’ integration needs will be met on time and with precision. So excited to have join us.”
Trey Griggs, Chief Revenue Officer at Manifold, echoed that enthusiasm.
“We are insanely focused on customer success, and a massive aspect of creating a great customer experience is ensuring Manifold customers are connected with all of their spot opportunities,” he says. “Evan has the right technology experience and understanding of the transportation industry to knock this role out of the park, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him on the team.”
The freight industry moves fast, and the carriers and brokers who win are the ones who can move faster. Manifold exists to give them that edge, and Evan’s arrival means the technical foundation of that promise just got a lot stronger.
We’re glad to have you, Evan. Let’s get to work.
